TEMPO Highest average awards

TEMPO School recognizes students who have achieved the highest average for their grade level in grades seven through twelve. Students who have achieved the highest average for their grade level using final marks in all subjects taken in their respective grade levels receive a certificate attesting to this achievement. TEMPO will use weighted marks to calculate the average of all courses taken that year and recognized by Alberta Education for credits. A three-credit course will be given a weight of sixty percent of that given a five-credit course.

Note:

1. Students who leave TEMPO School will forfeit the funds in trust and these will be returned to TEMPO’s operating budget.

Governor General’s academic medal

The Governor General’s Academic Medal is awarded to the grade twelve student who achieved the highest average according to the guidelines established by the Governor General’s office. The most recent guidelines published in 2006 read as follow:

“The average includes all Grades eleven and twelve courses as listed on the student’s official Transcript of Grades issued by the Ministry of Education. The average cannot be anticipated; it must be calculated based on final results after provincial examinations, where the Ministry of Education requires final exams.”
